What the world needs to know about Syria's Architecture

I am Ezzeddin Al-Nabki from the outskirts of Damascus, Syria. I am a Master’s student pursuing a degree in Architectural Design at the University of Damascus.

With a passion for Architecture, I have always been astonished by Old Damascus for its cultural richness and the greatness of its buildings, from multiple civilizations throughout the ages. As an urban sketch workshop trainer, I teach my students that, if you want to discover a building, you must first try to draw it.

For my Master’s thesis, I wrote about The Cultural Gate in Bab Sharqi, one of the seven gates of old Damascus. My thesis’ main objective is to make the region a cultural destination that informs the world about the Syrian civilization as both a center for artistic mobility and a meeting place for local and international cultures.

I always strive to do my best to tell the world in my paintings and images on social media that Syria, despite the war, is a place of immense cultural legacy to be known, remembered and preserved.
