Lebanese AHWEH BAYDHA White Coffee
Also known as White Coffee, is a traditional Lebanese caffeine-free coffee made in minutes. It's essentially rose water infused with your choice of honey or sugar and ends any meal on a sweet note. Krogers and Publix usually sell rose water in the ethnic sections, but here’s a quick recipe just in case you can’t find any.
ROSEWATER RECIPE:
You will need:
A handful of dry rose petals
Water
A strainer
A pot
INSTRUCTIONS:
Boil the rose petals in your pot of water for 15 seconds.
Use a strainer to remove the petals from the rose water.
Use rose water as needed.
AHWEH BAYDA (WHITE COFFEE) RECIPE:
You will need:
4 ounces of hot water
3-4 teaspoons of rose water (to taste)
Optional sugar or honey (to taste)
Mint + Laurel Lebanese-made coffee cup
INSTRUCTIONS:
Pour the hot water into the coffee cups.
Add in 1-2 teaspoons of rose water to each cup.
Sweeten the mixture with your choice of sugar or honey.
Enjoy your drink over post-meal discussions with loved ones!
YEMENI QISHR Black COFFEE
One of the oldest coffee recipes out there. Originally drank by Sufi mystics, Yemeni coffee got its start in 1450. By the early 1700s, the rest of the world enjoyed it too! Make your own magical cup of spiced coffee with this simple recipe.
YEMENI QISHR COFFEE RECIPE:
You will need:
Yemeni coffee beans
Lebanese-made coffee cups
4-6 teaspoons of sugar or honey (to taste)
1 ½ teaspoons of grated ginger
One cup of water
Coffee grinder
Cardamom pod
Pot
INSTRUCTIONS:
Grind the coffee beans into a fine powder using your grinder.
Add six teaspoons of the coffee powder into the pot.
Add grated ginger, cardamom pod, water, and sugar (or honey) to the mixture.
Bring the mixture to a boil and remove from heat.
Once the coffee settles, bring it back to a boil over the flame.
Repeat one last time! Almost there!
Pour the mixture into your Lebanese-made coffee cups.
Allow the coffee to sit in the cup for a minute or two.
Pair your Qishr with the company of loved ones and enjoy a cup together!
