Helping the homeless community in Ramadan
Just as spring has arrived with new blooms, Ramadan is a special month welcomed by Muslims around the world. Due to COVID-19, things will be different than any other Ramadan, as families observing the month long fast are having to stay home to implement the required social distancing rules. Normally, people gather with large family dinners and friends around the Iftar dinner table to break their fast and pray collectively in the mosque after they break their fast.
Ramadan is a spiritual month of giving, refection and growth; to observe it, one can draw tremendous energy and inner peace.
At Mint + Laurel, many of our artisan partners, friends and followers, it is a quiet time to abstain from the luxuries of life and allow the senses to make do with minimal stimulation in both body and mind. Our way of giving back to our local community during this spiritual month is by helping the homeless community manage COVID-19 with proper hand washing. As a social enterprise supporting Syrian artisans impacted by war, we felt that helping our local community was just as important. So we partnered with the ILM Foundation to help distribute hygiene kits to the homeless community in LA.
Throughout this holy month, when you purchase any of our products online, we will donate hygiene kits to the homeless in Los Angeles. With your help, we can support vulnerable communities in need.
We're all in this together, from East to West. #TheGivingSoap
